#143 No Man's Man (Louis L'Amour)

Lou Morgan is big enough and strong enough to tackle a grizzly. He's also what you'd call a bad man with a gun. His is for hire and a scholarly looking man named Bornaman is willing to pay him $5000 to use it. The job? Kill Henry Wetterling, the biggest rancher in the town of Battle Basin, to keep him from getting the land of a beautiful young woman named Nana Maduro. However, to get the job done Morgan must brace his past because Nana is a woman he loved passionately before she left him without a word and without hope of escape from a Mexican prison. Before long Morgan finds himself in a tangled web of deceit and the one who's being hunted. In order to live he's going to need his wits, his guns and the help of Nana Maduro.

Louis L'Amour brings the west alive like no other writer. No Man's Man is a rip roaring western that is never short of action and has the makings for a lot of fun listening.

From Louis L'Amour:
Passion drives fast gun Lou Morgan to the town of Battle Basin- passion and the promise of $5,000. For in this dusty town lives the wildly irresistible Nana Maduro, the woman Morgan loved enough to kill for, the woman who walked away from him without a word. Now, bitter but still caught in her spell, Morgan hires on with one of Nana's suitors to eliminate that man's rival. But when Morgan finds himself the target of two ugly killers, he can't help but wonder what Nana's admirers are really after, or if he'll live to find out.
